Useful Derby info:-

Derby is located south to the county of Derbyshire, in the East Midlands of England. It lies upon the banks of the River Derwent and as it is home to the first factory in the world, Lombe's Mill, a silk throwing mill, it is considered to be the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. When visiting Derby, there are many places of interest and something for everyone to experience and enjoy.

To learn about some of the history of Derby, why not visit the Museum and Art Gallery. With it's free admission and in the heart of the city, it is home to a fascinating and diverse range of nationally and internationally important collections. Or take a trip to the Cathedral where you can take in the sites of the beautiful building. Make sure you check out the Exhibition Programme to fins out what events are on that month. When you have finished looking around, you can always stop at the Cathedral Cafe and sample their beautiful home-made cakes, soups and sandwiches.

Derby is officially one of the most haunted cities in the UK, and with the Cathedral Quarter Ghost Walk, you can experience this first hand. Starting at the Tudar Bar in the city centre, it is not only an excellent way to see the city, but a chance to explore the spookier side of Derby. After you have endured the ghost tour, it will be time to reward yourself and what better way to do that then to go shopping. Derby is home to a large Westfield shopping centre where you can find all of your favourite high street shops as well as a large range of boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants.

Derby is suitable for all the family. If you are visiting with children, there are plenty of places to take them to, such as Markeaton Park, where they can run around in over 207 acres of land. It is one of Derby's largest parks and has become one of the most popular parks to visit in the East MIdlands.
